Jaguars beat Walsh Jesuit

The visiting #7 ranked St. Joseph Academy Jaguars defeated #4 ranked Walsh Jesuit with a thrilling 54-51 victory.  The Jaguars overcame a 2nd half 9 point defecit with a scintillating fourth quarter comeback.  The Jaguars were led by Senior Katie Battaglia with 17 points, including 5 three pointers; Junior Gretta Burry with 12 points; and Sophomore Brittany Morrison with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The Jaguars also received sterling floor games from Seniors Daija Jones, Ann Conroy and Sarah Schwind.
The Jaguars improved their record to 10-0 on the season.

Jaguars beat Avon Lake

St. Joseph Academy Jaguars defeated host Avon Lake Shoregals 58-36.  The Jaguars were led by Senior Daija Jones and Sophomore Brittany Morrison with 14 points each.  Senior Katie Battaglia added
10 points and Junior Nicole McManamon had 9.  Senior Paige Heneghan also contributed with a hustling floor game.  The Jaguars connected on 10 three pointers against Avon Lake's zone defense.

Jaguars beat Lake Catholic

The Jaguars defeated #18 ranked Lake Catholic 60-46. The Jags were led by the relentless play of sophomore Brittany Morrison, who had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Seniors, Katie Battaglia, Sarah Schwind, and Ann Conroy
had 11, 10, and 8 points, respectively. The Jaguars improved to 8-0 on the season.

Jaguars beat St. Vincent St. Mary

The Jaguars upset the #6 ranked St. Vincent St. Mary's 57-47.  The Jags were led by the energy of sophomore Brittany Morrison with 11 points and 10 rebounds and the poised floor game of senior point guard, Daija Jones, with 10 points and 6 assists.   Seniors Katie Battaglia and Sarah Schwind also contributed 10 points.  The Jaguars improved to 7-0 on the season.

Jaguar Service Project
 
On December 1st the entire Jaguar Basketball program got together to make Christmas cards and pack boxes to send to Captain Jackie Hageman and her fellow soldiers in Farah Province, Afghanistan.  The players decorated about 150 Christmas cards and wrote words of encouragement and thanks to our military. 
 
 
They also donated items and packed 16 boxes filled with items the soldiers had asked for in their wish list.

Jaguars beat Cleveland Heights




The visiting Jaguars defeated Cleveland Heights, 57-43. The Jaguars were sparked by  junior Nicole McManamon's  7 points in the crucial 4th quarter. Daija Jones '13, led the scoring with 14 points, 6 assists, and 7 steals. Katie Battaglia '13, added 9 points, 6 assists, and 7 steals. Ann Conroy '13, added 9 points, 10 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 4 steals.

Jaguars Beat Gilmour


#17th ranked St Joseph Academy defeated #13th ranked Gilmour Academy 55-52.

Daija Jones '13, of the Jaguars hit a three point shot with 3.5 seconds remaining to seal the victory. Other key contributions came from Greta Burry '14, with 17 points, Ann Conroy '13, with 13 rebounds, Katie Battaglia '13, with 7 assists and Sarah Schwind '13, with 6 steals and 6 rebounds.

The Jaguars improved to 5-0 on the season.

Jaguars Beat Holy Name


The Jaguars upset #14 ranked Holy Name with a spirited 49-39 win.  The Jaguars were led by the sterling floor game of point guard Daija Jones ’13.  Daija had 12 points, 4 assists and commanded the floor.  Other key contributions came from Paige Heneghan ’13, with 12 points and 7 rebounds; Nicole McManamon ’14, with 10 points and some aggressive defense; Brittany Morrison ’15, with 9 points and 7 rebounds; and Katie Battaglia ’13 with 6 points and 10 rebounds.

Jaguars Beat Culver Academy

Saint Joseph Academy improved to 3-0 by defeating Culver Academy from Indiana 59-33. The Jags were led by seniors Katie Battaglia and Sarah Schwind. Katie led the team with 15 points, 4 assists and 3 steals. Sarah had 10 points and 8 steals in the victory.



Jaguar Basketball Players say "Thank You"



The Jaguars Varsity, JV and Freshman basketball teams came together for an afternoon of service.  The players made Christmas cards for Coach Hageman's daughter Jackie and her unit (541st FST) stationed in Farah province in Afghanistan.  The players also brought in items for the soldiers and packed 8 boxes filled with items they  had asked for.  The SJA Basketball program gave a big "Thank You" to all the soldiers who keep us safe.
